There is an additional cause, however, behind Linda’s account’s growth. The account grew to over 3,000 followers in her first five weeks with the use of #hashtags. In Instagram, you can search by #hashtag to see things relevant to that tag.
Linda went through tags that pertained to her: #nashville #homesforsale #realestate. She started commenting and liking pictures posted by others, creating traction and fostering relationships with everyone around her.
Just five weeks later – and after just 100 posts – she had 3,026 followers, which she gained without following thousands of people and seeking return follows. She posts valuable content that her followers want to see; that alone creates the energy necessary for sustainable growth.
Aside from her massive success on Instagram, Linda has been very successful on Facebook. Many agents can be successful on Facebook, so what’s the difference between them and Linda?
She doesn’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on listing ads in order to find her success. Yes, it’s true! She spends ZERO dollars and gets many listings (and even closings) from working Facebook properly.
Many of us are in Facebook groups. Why is that important? Linda explains that being a part of local groups and buy, sell, trade pages is the easiest way to post listings and get a return!
Being in these groups gives you the opportunity to post your listings and relevant content which in turn translates into traction on your pages and for your business. Some groups don’t permit self-promotions and listings, so read a group’s rules prior to posting, in order to preserve your professionality.

So… How Can I Find Such Success on Social Media?
Instagram:
- Use Hashtags! Having 9-11 hashtags on each post gets you more traction and places your photos in front of more people.
- Search hashtags near your area, and start commenting and liking photos.
- Post relevant and interesting content. Don’t only post ads and listings.
Facebook:
- Join groups and community pages near you and be involved!
- Engage with your followers with non-business related posts as well.
- Network within groups and get traction on your listings and pages.
